Residence permit financially independent persons
What is residence in Spain through Navira?
Residence in Spain through Navira Global means a documented legal pathway to live in Spain based on income, work, study, investment, or family grounds. Navira analyzes the applicant profile, selects the correct visa or residence type, and prepares a defensible file for consular or in-country submission. Popular 2026 routes include the Digital Nomad visa for remote workers (minimum income thresholds apply), non-lucrative residence for financially independent applicants, entrepreneur residence for business founders, and family reunification when dependents meet income rules. Research by Spanish immigration practitioners shows that incomplete tax documentation and weak remote-work contracts are among the most common refusal reasons; Navira addresses these risks before filing. Typical preparation takes 4–10 weeks; government processing often ranges from 2–6 months. Services also cover NIE/TIE appointments, appeal support, rental contracts, and renewal planning. Clients can start at navira.global/spain/ or book a consultation with Navira's Spain desk at sales@navira.global.

What is it Residence permit No Lucrativa
The No Lucrativa program is designed for citizens of countries outside the EU – such as the USA, UK, Switzerland and CIS countries. It allows financially independent individuals to legally move to Spain on the basis of their savings or passive income, bypassing the complicated bureaucracy of conventional work visas.
Legal basis
The residency status is fully regulated by Ley Orgánica 4/2000 and Real Decreto 557/2011. The program is officially created for international investors and financially independent individuals.
Financial independence
It is important to confirm the availability of sufficient funds: provide bank statements with the necessary balance, documents on passive income and the legality of the origin of capital.
Complete relocation
Once approved, we will help you open a bank account, find housing, deal with taxes, get your children into school or garden and successfully adapt to Spain.
Is it right for you No Lucrativa
If your documents or financial indicators do not meet the criteria of the No Lucrativa visa, it is safer to choose another route immediately than to correct the situation after the refusal.
Suitable |
|---|
| You have passive income or savings. Your capital is placed in bank accounts or you receive regular income from rent, dividends, royalties or investments. |
| The finances are outside. The main source of your passive income or your savings are accumulated in banks outside Spain. |
| There is a confirmed history of the origin of funds. Account statements, tax returns, sales contracts or business documents clearly show that the money is earned legally. |
| The amount meets the requirements of the law. The availability of funds in the accounts covers the statutory minimum (from 400% IPREM per main applicant) for the entire year of residence. |
| You want to include the family. Your spouse, children, and dependent relatives may join you if your savings are increased proportionally for each family member. |
| You want the legal way. All financial documents reflect the real situation, are legal and can be easily verified by the Consulate. |
Not suitable/needs another way |
|---|
| There is not enough personal savings or passive income. Having property that cannot be converted quickly into money does not replace the actual balance in the account. |
| The origin of the money cannot be confirmed. Capital without declarations and cash require case preparation. |
| You plan to work actively in Spain or remotely. The Lucrativa visa will be revoked if the Consulate reveals that it has been working for the first year. |
| If your only income is generated within Spain and you do not have capital outside of Spain, this route is not suitable for you. |
| There's no insurance or it's inappropriate. Tourist policy won't be accepted. You need full Spanish insurance: no extra fees for each visit to the doctor, no hidden restrictions and full coverage from the first day. |
| You are not ready to live in Spain more than 183 days a year. This residence requires you to spend most of the year in the country and become a tax resident. |
What gives No Lucrativa
A visa for financially independent persons does not only solve the issue of relocation. It sets a vector for all key areas of life in Spain: from legalization and family security to transparent tax residency and clear renewal of documents.
Legal status
You can live in Spain legally and forget about the restrictions of the tourist regime, which allows you to stay here only 90 days.
Stable income
You officially retain passive sources of income or capital abroad, subject to strict compliance with all the basic financial conditions of the No Lucrativa program.
Family route
Your loved ones can apply at the same time as you or join later. For each family member, we collect and prepare a separate package of documents.
Plan after approval
After obtaining a visa, we will help you open a bank account, get a tax account to declare passive income, and arrange children in local schools or a garden.
Check the readiness of your case 3 minutes
Answer the questions and understand how ready your case is. This is not a legal opinion, but a quick way to see weaknesses before paying for an escort.
Even a high self-test result does not guarantee approval. The final decision is made by the competent state body.
Checking Spain
Below are the basic requirements for No Lucrativa in simple and understandable language. Each item must be documented.
| What's being tested | What does it mean to you | Documents | Frequent error | How does Navira help |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Financial independence | You must prove that you have sufficient personal means to live in Spain without having to work. | Statements on personal bank accounts, certificate of balance and movement of funds for the last 6-12 months. | Trying to show active remote work or freelancing instead of savings. | We analyze the structure of your finances and select a passing option. |
| 2 Legal origin of capital | All money in accounts must have a clear, legitimate and fully traceable source. | Tax returns, contracts of sale of assets, certificates of inheritance, documents on dividends. | The money in the account appeared yesterday without confirmation of its legal origin. | We are building a transparent chain of origin for each euro. |
| 3 Sufficient balance in the accounts | The amount in the account must cover the minimum by law for 2026 (400% IPREM) - from €28,800 per applicant. | Bank certificates (preferably European or friendly countries) with wet seals. | Calculation of the amount “sideways” without taking into account possible fluctuations in exchange rates. | Calculate the exact financial qualification with a safe buffer for your consulate. |
| 4 Renunciation of employment | You agree not to engage in economic or employment activities in Spain. | A written declaration of intention not to work in Spain for the first year. | Indication in the questionnaires or interview plans to work remotely. | Correct the case legend and prepare for the correct positioning in the consulate. |
| 5 Renunciation of employment | You agree not to engage in economic or employment activities in Spain. | A written declaration of intention not to work in Spain for the first year. | Indication in the questionnaires or interview plans to work remotely. | Correct the case legend and prepare for the correct positioning in the consulate. |
| 6 No criminal record | You should not have a problem with the law in the countries where you have lived for the past 5 years. | Proof of criminal record with apostille and official translation (traducción jurada). | Providing an expired certificate (usually more than 3 months). | We control the validity of documents and coordinate the translation process. |
| 7 Family composition | When co-filing, financial claims increase by +100% IPREM (€7,200/year) for each family member. | Marriage certificates, birth of children, documents on the dependency of adults, translations with apostille. | Insufficient amount in the general account to cover expenses for all family members. | We check the package of documents of each relative and recalculate the limits on the family. |
What income need to show
Financial claims are calculated on the basis of IPREM, the national income indicator in Spain. In 2026, the size of the IPREM is €600.00 per month (€7,200 per year). For No Lucrativa, the following formula applies: 400% IPREM for the main applicant and +100% IPREM for any subsequent family member (spouse or child). Before submitting the amount, it is recommended to double-check according to the current practice of a particular consulate, since it is recommended to show funds with a margin for exchange differences.
| Family composition | Formula | Minimum amount per month |
|---|---|---|
| 1 1 applicant | 400% IPREM | €2,400 |
| 2 Applicant + spouse(s) | 400% + 100% IPREM | €3,000 |
| 3 Applicant + spouse(s) + 1 child | 400% + 100% + 100% IPREM | €3,600 |
| 4 Applicant + spouse(s) + 2 children | 400% + 100% + 100% + 100% IPREM | €4,200 |
| 5 Every next member of the family | +100% IPREM | +€600 |
This amount or more must be confirmed as a stable monthly income, depending on the number of family members included in the filing.
What documents needed
The exact list of documents depends on the country of submission, family composition, type of income and the chosen route. Below is a basic document map that Navira personalizes after auditing your situation.
Documents
Personality
Check the expiration date (at least 1 year), all relevant pages, visas and stamps.
It is important to confirm your legal presence in the country where you apply through the Consulate (nationality or valid residence permit).
It is necessary to confirm the right to leave and the absence of travel restrictions for the chosen route.
To submit to the Consulate, properly filled out current forms of the established sample are needed.
Passport with validity of less than a year, violation of the visa regime or submission of documents in the wrong Consulate.
The correctness of the choice of the Consulate, the validity of the certificates, the data in the EX-01 forms and the compliance of the financial track with the law.
Income
It shows the real stability of savings and a constant balance on accounts, not just yesterday's random balance.
Confirm the origin of your money: long-term lease agreements, documents on the distribution of dividends, certificates of inheritance or sale of assets.
Official certificates (for example, 3-NDFL or their international counterparts) confirm that all taxes were paid on accumulated capital or passive income.
Source of capital → document of payment of taxes → account statement – one of the most reliable ways to confirm the purity of money for the Spanish Consulate.
Show a large amount in an account that was deposited in cash shortly before filing without a legal and documented source.
We analyze the purity of the origin of funds, the movement on accounts for the last year, the legality of sources of passive income and the margin of financial strength for the whole family.
Work and clients
An official notarial or personal statement that you undertake not to engage in employment or business in Spain.
It is important to confirm that your sources of passive income or capital formed long before the filing, and did not arise spontaneously.
Shows the sources from which your funds are formed (rentals, dividends, royalties) and why they are stable.
You need to prove that making money is not tied to your day-to-day work or operational process management.
Providing documents from which the consulate concludes that the applicant continues to actively work remotely for the company or conduct operational business.
Complete absence of labor tokens in documents, transparent connection between your assets, tax reports and final bank statements.
Company
An extract from the commercial register, company statutory documents (where you are the beneficiary) or statements on commercial real estate will be suitable.
Financial statements of the company, audit reports, tax returns of the legal entity and the history of dividend payment.
This helps to show the consulate that the business generating you passive income is real, stable and has a market history.
It is important that documents clearly confirm your status as a shareholder/founder and record the distribution of net profit in your favor.
An attempt to show dividends from a zero company without real turnover, staff and corporate taxes paid.
We analyze how the business structure generating your income is transparent to the Spanish tax authorities and ready for inspection by the Consulate.
Family package
Marriage and birth certificates, apostilles and sworn translations in the correct order will be required.
For parents or adult dependent children, hard proof of their complete financial and life dependency on you is required.
Capital on the account is calculated with an addition of €7,200 per year (100% IPREM) for each included family member.
Submission of family documents without detailed proof of the financial independence of the main applicant to cover the expenses of all relatives at once.
Validity of certificates, confirmation of regular financial support for dependents and accurate calculation of the total amount in the general bank account.
Insurance
If the route requires full coverage, insurance with surcharges for services requires additional verification.
If insurance only works on a after-payment money-back system, this can create risk when filing.
If coverage does not start immediately or is limited to important services, it is better to replace the policy before filing.
The travel policy usually does not meet the requirements of No Lucrativa.
Analyze coverage, start date, exclusions, certificate format and insurance compliance with your case.
Incarceration
It is important to determine for which countries and periods are required certificates of criminal record.
Requirements depend on the country of issue of the document and the route of submission.
A simple translation is often not enough, even if the text of the document is clear.
The certificate has expired or there is no necessary legalization of the document.
Verify the expiration dates, countries, format of registration and compliance of the document with your submission route.
Translations and apostilles
In many cases, the document is first translated into an internationally recognized format.
The Spanish procedure often requires a sworn translation rather than a regular translator.
In the entire package of documents, the names, surnames, addresses and amounts must match.
Translate the document to apostille, allow discrepancies in the data or submit the translation in an inappropriate format.
We check the procedure for legalization, the integrity of the package of documents and the uniform format of all data.
Feed
Applying for a primary residence permit takes place exclusively in person by prior appointment at the consulate of the country of your citizenship or permanent residence permit.
It is important to fill out the state form EX-01 correctly, pay the consular fee and the fee 790 (code 052), attaching receipts to the package.
Unlike online filings, the submission of documents and interviews to the consulate must be in person (all adult family members).
The decision is monitored by the registration number on the official website of the consulate or by obtaining an original passport with a visa.
Even a strong financial case will be rejected if documents are sent by mail without a record, consular districts are confused, or an interview invitation is missed.
The correctness of choosing a consulate according to your residence permit, the relevance of EX-01 forms, payment of fees in local currency and readiness for consul questions.
After obtaining approval
Unlike other programs, for No Lucrativa, selecting a Spanish bank, transferring capital and renting or buying a home is often necessary before a visit to the Consulate.
If you are moving with your family, it is important to think ahead of time about placing children in local schools or kindergartens - confirming a child's pre-registration also strengthens the case.
Since you are required to spend more than 183 days in the country, you will automatically become a tax resident of Spain. It is important to understand the taxes on your worldwide passive income.
In your first year of residency, you are not allowed to register for self-employment (Autónomo). Your main task is to properly submit annual reports on foreign accounts and property.
After a year, this residence permit can be extended for another 2 years (and then for another 2), if you keep the necessary balance in your accounts and prove permanent residence in Spain.
We help you get through the move without unnecessary stress: from creating an impeccable financial legend for the Consulate to fully adapting and organizing your family life in Spain.
Law in plain language
We're not hiding the legal basis. Each paragraph below is linked to an official source and translated into document language.
1 Who is a Financially Independent Applicant
This is an applicant who plans to live in Spain on his personal savings or stable passive income from abroad.
Account statements, real estate lease agreements, dividend certificates, tax returns, certificates of balances.
File a valid employment contract or freelance contract instead of passive income documents.
Checks your assets and builds a clear system to confirm your full financial autonomy.
2 Legal origin of capital
It is important to show the Consulate of Spain where exactly you got the money in your bank accounts.
Contracts of sale of property, documents on privatization, inheritance or distribution of net business profits.
Show a large amount in an account that was deposited in cash shortly before filing without justification documents.
Checks the history of the movement of your funds and helps to confirm the legality of each euro for the consulate.
3 Purity of passive income and payment of taxes
All your passive income outside of Spain must be official and fully tax-free.
Tax returns (3-NDFL or analogues), certificates of payment of taxes on income of individuals, statements on accounts.
Show regular income from rentals or businesses that have not been officially taxed.
Checks the financial and tax logic of the case before filing, excluding any claims from compliance.
4 Duration of ownership and stability of assets
You need to show that your sources of funds have existed for a long time, and not created specifically before visiting the consulate.
Account statements for 6-12 months, long-term lease agreements, extracts from property rights registers.
Providing fresh leases or deposits without proof of actual asset ownership history.
Checks whether your financial case has a sufficient and documented history of stability.
5 Business autonomy and passive dividends
If the money is coming from your company, it’s important to prove that you’re only the beneficiary, not the COO.
Charter of the company, an extract from the commercial register, financial statements of the company, the decision to pay dividends.
Submission of company documents where the applicant is listed as an active CEO with a management function.
Checks the structure of the company and helps to correctly draw up documents confirming the passive nature of income.
6 Obligation not to work (Declaration)
It is important to officially confirm your intention and commitment not to work in Spain.
Notarial application-declaration of refusal to work in Spain and preservation of the status of non-working resident.
Indicate in the questionnaire or at the interview that you plan to look for a job or remotely work.
It helps to correctly draw up the text of the declaration and build the positioning of the case strictly within the law.
7 Spanish health insurance
You must obtain a full health insurance policy from a company certified in Spain.
Annual insurance policy, confirmation of full payment, certificate of coverage without surcharges (sin copagos) and restrictions.
Use international travel insurance or a franchised policy for each visit.
Selects and arranges accredited Spanish insurance, which is guaranteed to meet the requirements of the Consulate.
8 Tax residency and Form 030
No Lucrativa residents are required to live in Spain for more than 183 days and declare their worldwide income.
Tax registration on Form 030, consultation with tax advisers (hestors) in Spain.
Count on tax relief for nomads (Backham Act), which does not apply to No Lucrativa.
It helps to understand the tax liabilities of Spain and plan the reporting of your foreign assets.
9 Consular Application, D and TIE Visa
No Lucrativa is submitted in person through the Consulate in the country of origin, and in Spain you only get a card.
Form EX-01, D visa application form, fee 790-052, fingerprint entry, TIE 012 fee.
Attempting to apply for No Lucrativa online from Spain or skipping deadlines for fingerprinting.
Takes you all the way from signing up at the consulate to getting a physical plastic TIE resident card.
How to do it independently
You can go through this procedure yourself if you have a simple case, a clear source of income, a full package of documents and enough time to prepare. Below is a step-by-step plan that will help you understand the process and avoid typical mistakes.
Check the strategy and objectives of the residence permit
Compare No Lucrativa with other paths. You must be prepared for the complete absence of commercial and remote activities in Spain. Entry to the Consulate in advance.
Confirm the legality of capital
Collect tax returns, sales contracts, property certificates and any other official documents explaining the legal source of money.
Check IPREM Revenue and Requirement
Your account balance must meet the requirements (from €28,800 per main applicant). Add up capital from passive income (rentals, dividends) and eliminate active work tokens.
Legalize a package of documents
Put an apostille on the original certificates and documents of the registry office. The entire package must be translated into Spanish exclusively by an official sworn translator (jurado).
Getting Spanish Health Insurance
Sign an annual contract with a Spanish insurance company. The main condition is that insurance must be without deductibles and surcharges (sin copagos) and valid for the whole year.
Fill out forms and submit documents
Fill out Form EX-01, D Visa Form, Refuse to Work and Pay Fees. Submit the case in person to the Consulate in the country of citizenship / residence permit and wait for a decision (2 to 4 weeks).
Collect personal documents and certificates
Collect passports, questionnaires and confirmation of housing. Order criminal record certificates from countries where you have lived for the past 5 years - their preparation and apostille take time.
Enter Spain and get a TIE card
You have to move in 3 months. Next: rent, residence permit (padrón), fingerprinting for a TIE plastic card and mandatory tax registration.
Self serving is not suitable for everyone. Mistakes in the itinerary, insurance, contract, or financial model can result in wasted time, requests, and rejection.
Who needs an escortWhen is best to go professionally accompanied
Information is available to everyone. But when the cost of error is higher than the cost of system training, choose Navira.
Family
More documents, higher financial requirements. "" Prepare each document carefully and spend more time on sworn translation.
Personal capital and income
It is important to choose the right district by registration, prepare all files strictly in paper form, fill out the form EX-01 and have time to submit a package of documents before the expiration of the certificates.
Financial logic
If you only show the balance in the account with no movement of funds for the last year or the history of passive sources, you will need a strong justification so that the consul has no doubts.
There was a refusal or request
It is necessary to understand the reason for the refusal and change the strategy before submitting the case again. Filing the same documents without working on errors will result in a new rejection.
Personal capital and income
Balance on the personal or joint account of the spouses, passive income or savings - it is important to correctly prove the legality of the source of funds.
After approval
Obtaining a national D visa, entry, catching a police fingerprint record (cita), paying a fee of 790-012, obtaining a TIE card and adaptation.

Navira only works with real documents. We identify weaknesses in advance, but we do not create fictions instead of facts. If you don't have a real reason, the right way is not to draw documents, but to choose another route or prepare the ground legally. Fictitious documents can lead to refusal, cancellation of the visa and problems in future applications.
Title of the table

| 1 Fictitious leases | 1 “We put the money in the account for reference, then withdraw” |
| 2 Fake bank statements | 2 Let's make a left-handed lease in Spain for the consulate |
| 3 Fabricated Passive Income Documents | 3 Personal presence at the consulate is not required |
| 4 Transit money schemes | 4 100% guarantee of visa approval without the right to work |
| 5 Promise of 100% positive decision | 5 Insurance is suitable for any cheap, the main thing is to have a piece of paper |

Client case
Rahul and Priya
India / Mumbai / Mobile Developers
Rahul works as a mobile developer and has been working remotely with a foreign company for several years. Over time, the couple began to think about moving to Europe - they wanted to live in a calmer environment and have more opportunities to travel and live outside of India.
They chose Spain and applied for a Digital Nomad visa through the Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai. Most of the time was spent preparing documents from the employer and confirming a stable income, but the process itself turned out to be clearer than they expected.
Now the couple has already received resident cards and is settling in Spain. According to Rahul, the most unusual thing after Mumbai was the slower pace of life and the opportunity to better separate work and personal time, while remaining at the same level of income.
Client case
Vikram
India / Nashik / Architect
Vikram worked as an architect in Nashik and mainly worked on private residential projects. After being laid off at the company, he began looking for remote work opportunities outside of India, but was faced with the fact that it was impossible to apply for a Digital Nomad visa without an international contract.
We helped him find an employer and prepare a contract with a European company, after which we began preparing documents for moving to Spain. The main emphasis when applying was to confirm specialized education, work experience and stable income under a foreign contract.
Now Vikram has already received a resident card and continues to work remotely on international projects. The family remains in India for now, but he plans to formalize the reunion later. Since moving, he says it has become easier to focus on work and plan for the future without the constant uncertainty he faced after losing his job back home.
Client case
Amina
Nigeria / Lagos / Nursing student
Amina came to Spain for long-term language courses even before the changes in migration legislation in 2025. During her studies, she decided to continue her education in Spain and applied to the nursing program in Teruel.
We helped her prepare documents for homologation of the certificate, process admission and change of status within Spain without the need to leave the country. According to Amina, what took the most time was collecting documents and waiting for responses from different departments.
Now Amina has already begun her studies and is adapting to life in Spain. She says that the move gave her a sense of stability and the opportunity to make long-term plans related to her studies and future profession.
Client case
Hasan and Fatima
Pakistan / Karachi / Senior UI/UX Designer
Hassan has worked as a UI/UX designer for many years on international projects and collaborated with foreign teams remotely. After the birth of their daughter, the family began to seriously think about moving and a quieter living environment.
We helped Hasan select a contract with an international company that met the requirements of the Digital Nomad visa, and prepared a complete package of documents for submission. Documents were submitted through the Consulate General of Spain in Karachi. According to Hasan, the work that took the most time was the approval of documents by the employer and the preparation of financial confirmations.
Now the family already lives in Spain and has received resident cards. Hasan continues to work remotely in the same field, and Fatima is busy adapting the family to a new life. They say that after moving, they especially began to appreciate the calmer pace of life and the opportunity to spend more time together.
Client case
Lina
Kazakhstan / Almaty / Digital Marketing Specialist
Lina worked at a marketing agency in Almaty and managed projects for foreign clients. Over time, she wanted to try living in Europe.
Lina came to Spain on a tourist visa, after which she contacted us to register Digital Nomad within the country. We helped her prepare proof of income, collect a package of documents and submit an application in Spain.
As a result, Lina received the Digital Nomad residence for 3 years and now lives in Madrid. She continues to work in digital marketing remotely.
Client case
Kwame
Ghana / Accra / Data Analyst
Kwame worked as a data analyst for an international fintech company and collaborated remotely with a UK team based in Accra. Over time, he began to consider moving to Europe to live in a more stable environment while continuing to work internationally.
To obtain a Digital Nomad visa, Kwame turned to us for assistance. We helped him prepare a package of documents, confirm remote employment and prepare financial documents for submission through the Spanish Embassy in Accra. According to Kwame, the work that took the most time was preparing documents from the employer and tax confirmations.
After approval, Kwame moved to Malaga and received a resident card. Now he continues to work remotely in the field of data analytics and is gradually adapting to life in Spain. He says that after the move he began to better separate work and personal time, which he previously lacked.
Client case
Ekaterina
Russia / Moscow / English teacher
Ekaterina worked as an English tutor for several years and taught both individual lessons and online groups for students from Moscow. Most of her work had long been done remotely, so the idea of moving to Spain came quite naturally - without the need to change profession or look for a new job.
Ekaterina came to Spain on a tourist visa, and we applied for Digital Nomad within the country through UGE. We helped her prepare proof of income from private practice, online platforms and regular students. An important advantage was that she did not have to interrupt classes even while completing paperwork.
A positive decision came after 19 days.
Client case
Lida and Dima
Russia / Kaliningrad / 3D Interior Designer + doctor
Lida worked as a 3D interior designer and collaborated with clients remotely, while Dima was building a career in medicine. When the family began to think about moving, they decided to register Digital Nomad specifically for Lida, since her work fully met the requirements of the program.
The family came to Spain on tourist visas with their little daughter. While they were searching for housing and adapting, we prepared a case for submission within the country through UGE. The main emphasis was placed on Lida’s portfolio, international customers and confirmation of stable remote income.
After approval, the whole family immediately received a residence for 3 years and received TIE cards. Additionally, we helped Lida register as an autonoma. Now the family is settling into a new place, and Dima is preparing documents for the homologation of a medical diploma.

What might go wrongly
We're honest about the risks. We do not scare, but create a safe relocation strategy, in which every step is taken into account and insured.
| Situation | What the problem looks like | What are we doing | Why is it important |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Sources do not confirm passivity | The documents contain markers of active remote work or hiring. | Cleaning up work contracts, preparing. Declaration of refusal of work and explanation. | Any hint of continuing to work in Spain will result in rejection. |
| 2 Unstable passive income | Revenues from dividends or leases vary greatly by month. | We form a clear financial structure and focus on the total amount of savings. | It is important for the consulate to see the regularity of income or the presence of a guaranteed airbag. |
| 3 Inappropriate insurance | Travel insurance or Spanish policy with franchises / surcharges (copagos). | Choose the right medical policy from an accredited insurance company. | Insurance without surcharges and waiting periods is a strict legal requirement for this residence permit. |
| 4 Family without calculation of financial burden | The amount in the account is calculated only for the main applicant under the basic IPREM. | We recalculate the requirements on the scale of qualifications taking into account spouses and children for 2026. | For joint family filing, significantly higher and affordable financial indicators are required. |
| 5 “Gray” or transit capital | The money is deposited in cash the day before taking the statement, there is no history of origin. | We show the movement of accounts for 6-12 months and tax returns. | Just a large balance in the account without a legal history of accumulation is not enough for the consul. |
| 6 There was a previous rejection | Try to file the same package of financial documents unchanged. | We thoroughly analyze the official refusal of the consul and completely change the financial strategy. | Repeating past mistakes or ignoring past consulate doubts guarantees a new refusal. |
| 7 Request after submission | The consulate sent an official request to send new extracts or explanations. | Legally competently prepare a structured response and additional evidence. | An incomplete, chaotic or late response will result in a case being closed and rejected. |

Frequent questions on No Lucrativa
The FAQ covers the client’s main issues: route, income, family, insurance, cost, risks, taxes and life after approval.
1 I have no passive income, but I have a large amount in my account. Will the residence permit No Lucrativa be approved?
Yeah. Spanish consulates accept cases based solely on personal savings. The main thing is to show the required amount in the account (from €28,800 per main applicant for 2026) and, crucially, legally and transparently explain the origin of this money (for example, the sale of real estate, inheritance or business closure).
2 Do I have to come to Spain to submit documents?
No, in the first stage it is prohibited by law. The initial application for the residence permit No Lucrativa occurs exclusively in the country of your citizenship or permanent residence permit through the Consulate of Spain. It is necessary to come to Spain after approval - with a national visa of category D stuck in the passport.
3 Do I have to go to government offices in person?
In your home country, you will need to come personally to the Spanish Consulate for a paper dossier and a brief interview. In Spain, you will only need to visit the police in person once to take a fingerprint on a plastic card (TIE). The rest of the process of controlling documents and records we take care of.
4 How long does it take to apply for a residence permit No Lucrativa?
On average from 2 to 4 months: 3-4 weeks - collection of documents, apostilles and sworn translation. from 1 to 3 months - the official deadline for consideration of the case by the Consulate and the Migration Service of Spain.
5 Is it possible to include a family in the application for a residence permit No Lucrativa?
Your spouse and minor children (as well as adults if they are studying and financially dependent on you) may apply with you. At the same time, the financial qualification is proportionally increased: an additional €7,200 is required for the second family member, and €3,600 for each child for the year ahead.
6 Can I work remotely for a foreign company with a residence permit No Lucrativa?
Officially not. Spanish law (Real Decreto 557/2011) prohibits any work activity (including remote work) under this type of residence permit. There should be no work contracts or regular salaries in the case. If you want to work remotely, Digital Nomad is more suitable for you.
7 Do I have to pay taxes in Spain (residence permit No Lucrativa)?
Yeah. To extend your residence permit, you must stay in Spain for more than 183 days a year. This automatically makes you a tax resident. You will be required to pay income tax (IRPF) on your worldwide passive income (dividends, rentals abroad) and declare foreign assets worth €50,000 (Modelo 720).
8 Who is a gestor and why is it needed after moving (residence permit No Lucrativa)?
Hestor is your administrative and tax manager in Spain. For residents of No Lucrativa, it is necessary to help you correctly register for tax (Form 030), file an annual income declaration and report on foreign assets (Form 720), so that you do not have problems with renewing your residence permit.
9 For how long is the residence permit No Lucrativa issued?
The first stage is the national D visa in the passport for 90 days, which you exchange in Spain for a TIE plastic card for a period of 1 year. If you renew, you will be issued a card for 2 years at once (provided that you have retained capital and lived in the country for more than 183 days in the first year).
10 Is it possible to use the income from the rental of real estate in the homeland?
Yeah. Official income from long-term rental housing, confirmed by a contract, bank statement and tax return (for example, personal income tax), is recognized by the Consulate as a classic and legal passive income for this program.
11 What is the Declaration of Refusal (Residence permit No Lucrativa)?
This is a mandatory document in the paper file. You sign an official statement in Spanish stating that you undertake not to carry out any employment or commercial activity in Spain for the duration of the residence.
12 Is it possible to open a business in Spain with a residence permit No Lucrativa?
You have the right to be a founder or shareholder of a Spanish company (own shares/shares) and receive dividends. However, you are not allowed to work for this company as a CEO or employee and receive a salary there. To manage the business, a modification of the residence permit will be required in a year.
